White Room Audio is an independent music software company run by David Robert Thomas. This policy explains what data our products collect, why, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected].
Mix Notes for iOS and iPadOS
Your audio and your notes stay on your device
Mix Notes has no account system and no server of its own. Audio files you import, the annotations you make, your voice notes, and the projects you organise them into are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. We cannot see them, and they are not uploaded anywhere by the app.
If your device is backed up to iCloud or a computer, that backup is handled by Apple under Apple's terms, not by us.
Microphone
Mix Notes asks for microphone access only when you record a voice note against a timestamp. Recordings are saved on your device alongside the annotation and are never transmitted to us.
Apple Music library
If you grant access, Mix Notes can list and play songs already stored on your device so you can annotate them. This access is read only. We do not copy, upload, or transmit your library, and DRM protected subscription tracks cannot be played.
Advertising
Mix Notes is free and supported by advertising through Google AdMob. To show ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects data from your device, including your device identifier (IDFA), advertising data, app interaction data, and diagnostic information such as crash and performance data. This data is collected by Google, not by us, and is not linked to your identity by us.
On first launch the app asks, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, whether you allow tracking across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised using that identifier. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, the app also shows a consent form provided by Google's User Messaging Platform before any ads load. You can reopen that form at any time using the "Privacy options" link at the bottom of the app's file list.
Google's handling of this data is covered by Google's Privacy & Terms .
What we do not do
We do not run our own analytics in Mix Notes, we do not have accounts or profiles for you, and we do not sell data. Beyond the advertising described above, the app makes no network requests.
Deleting your data
Because everything is stored locally, deleting a file or annotation in the app removes it from your device. Deleting the app removes all of it, including any recorded voice notes. There is no account for us to close and no server side copy to request deletion of.
Children
Mix Notes is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Mix Notes on the web
The web version at mixnotes.whiteroomaudio.com is a separate product with its own policy, published at mixnotes.whiteroomaudio.com/privacy. It requires an account, syncs your files to our own server, and carries no advertising or third party trackers.
This website and our plugins
When you buy a licence on whiteroomaudio.com we collect the email address and payment details needed to complete the sale and deliver your licence. If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page.
